Tajikistan’s finance ministry has formally joined the ADB’s Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation transport corridor programme, qualifying the country for up to $400 million in concessional lending over the next four years.
The funds will primarily target road rehabilitation along the Dushanbe-Khujand corridor and a new logistics terminal at the Tajik-Uzbek border.
For a country whose external debt portfolio is heavily weighted toward Chinese creditors, the ADB facility offers welcome diversification on more transparent terms.
